About WisPride

In 1933 Armin Hernke started making club cheese (cold pack cheese spread) in his cheese factory just east of Hilbert, Wisconsin, under the Calumet brand. Within a few years, dealers in all parts of the United States were handling Calumet Club Cheese. In the late 1930s, the name was changed to WisPride to better reflect the proud heritage of this cheese as "The Pride of Wisconsin."

The Hernke family entrusted ownership of WisPride to Nestle Cheese in 1970. A few years later, WisPride was noticed by Fromageries Bel – a family-owned company with its own tradition of fine cheese-making dating back to 1865 – which assumed WisPride into its family of cheeses in the mid-1980s.

In 1985, Fromageries Bel and WisPride joined forces with Wisconsin-based Kaukauna Cheese, forming Bel/Kaukauna U.S.A. The production of WisPride Cheese was then moved to our present location in Little Chute, Wisconsin, between Appleton and Green Bay.

Today our company is known as Bel Brands USA. WisPride Cheese, along with their sister brand Kaukauna® Cheese, are available nationwide and have become America's preferred spreadable cheeses.
